Mapping: Visual Studies Faculty Exhibition.
These are just a few of the featured works on display at the St. Edwards' Fine Arts Gallery in Austin, Texas on the St. Edwards University Campus. The artist's name, along with the title of the work, are posted to the left of the displayed art pieces. Opening Night was September 16th, 2016. This time around, the Gallery and Arts department decided to put on a showcase of various work from all of the visual studies faculty. While the Gallery has showcased individual faculty member's artwork before, it has not been since 2012 that it hosted all of the visual studies department's artwork at once. Everything from paintings, photography, sculpture, graphic design, and in between can be found in this gallery in the Fine Arts Building on St. Edwards' Campus.
It is a pleasure, as always, over the course of the week to install and make these exhibits come to life. Come the day of the grand opening, things got a little stressed with the final touches and preparations. There was only enough time to finish the final touches with my colleagues and the artists before returning to Houston for a prior commitment, sadly missing opening night and the opportunity to get photos of it. According to fellow students and co-workers who attended, the exhibit's showcase was wall to wall with visitors the whole time, making it nothing short of a great success. The exhibit will be on display for one more week, feel free to stop by while it is still around. Open Mon-Sun 12-5.
